The Mechanical Reasoning assessment has been
designed to assess applicants for technical and trade positions
whether as a direct recruitment tool, in career counselling for
school leavers or for those wishing to change careers and seeking
occupations requiring mechanical reasoning ability.
The mechanical reasoning assesses the ability to understand
very basic principles of physics and in particular, mechanics,
to visualise the movement of objects through space and the cause-effect
relationships between mechanical components.
The mechanical reasoning includes a wide range of content
including wheels, gears, clamps, levers, sliding rods,
shafts, pulleys, weights, conveyor belts, fixed and non-fixed
pivots, crowbars and springs.
